In order to legally ride the statewide trail system in
Vermont, you must have a TMA. In order to get a TMA, you need to buy it
from a club.
All the clubs in the state have the same goal - To
maintain their trails and keep them groomed. Tweed Valley Travelers
servers 60 miles of trails in Pittsfield and the surrounding areas. If you
primarily ride in these areas, then you should join. The club dues go
directly to the club to help support grooming costs. By joining in the
area you ride most frequently, you help ensure the trails you frequent are well
maintained.
How do I join?
To join Tweed Valley Travelers, you simply need to buy a
TMA from the club. TMA's are sold at the PIttstop in Pittsfield.
After you join, you are free to ride in any of the VAST
trails throughout the state. You are also welcome to come to monthly club
meetings and participate in trail work and other club activities.
Without participation, snowmobiling would not be possible.
Volunteers are needed to put up signage, clear trees from trails, help out at
fundraising events and perform other tasks to ensure trails are in the best
possible shape. All of this work takes a LOT of time and is all done by
unpaid volunteers.
In addition to getting satisfaction knowing you've helped
out to ensure great riding, it is also a great way to make new friends and have
new people to ride with. You can also learn about areas you never knew
about before. And if that isn't enough, the club does get a limited number
of volunteer TMA's every year and helping might get you one of these.
When does the club
meet?
Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7pm
at the Clear River Tavern. If you are planning on going to a meeting and
want to ensure there have been no changes to the date or time, please contact
us. A number of members of the club also get together for groups rides and
cookouts on the trail on the weekends. If you'd like to be involved in
these, contact us and let us know.
Please email us and ask it. We will continue to
update this FAQ as time goes on.
